Press Release Body = On IN SHORT ORDER, Thursday, July 13th at 9:00PM EST, Sue Vogan will be speaking with Dr. Allan Lohaus, author of MAYDAY! A Physician as Patient.
What happens when the doctor becomes the patient in a hospital? Do patient-physicians fare better? Are there lessons that physicians might learn from being a patient? Are these lessons they should learn?
Dr. Lohaus, a former obstetrician and gynecological surgeon, never expected that he would be the patient -- in a hospital and going through surgery for a rare disorder. MAYDAY!, Lohaus\' patient biography, provides details of suffering, frustration, hope, and faith -- everything patients endure. The perspectives differ when the patient is a physician and Dr. Lohaus will explain it all -- first hand. He will also discuss real advantages and serious disadvantages he found as a patient-physician.
Lohaus was born in Philadelphia, grew up in White Plains and served at John Hopkins University for 24-years. He specialized in obstetrics and gynecology and has been published in various medical journals. Dr. Lohaus currently resides in Clarksville, Maryland and spends his free time as a nature photographer and furniture-maker. He also enjoys sailing and volunteers at Habitat for Humanity.
